La Quinta, CA is a beautiful town, located in the Coachella Valley. Surrounded on three sides by the Santa Rosa Mountains, this historical town has been home to celebrities and socialites.
Although it’s not far from Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage and Cathedral City, people want to come and live in La Quinta. It is one of the fastest-growing, most well-rounded cities in the area.
There are so many reasons to move to La Quinta, it’s hard to narrow it down to a quick list. Here are the top reasons.
While the summer months in La Quinta can get quite hot, the winter is not to be beat. With an annual average of 348 days of Sunshine and winter temperatures with a high of 89 degrees and a low of 62, the dry heat of the summer is worth putting up with.
The Golf Courses
The first golf course in La Quinta, The Resort, was established in 1926 and hosted Kirk Douglas, Dinah Shore, Frank Sinatra and United States Presidents Gerald Ford, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Bill Clinton. Part of the Bob Hope Desert Classic, now the Humana Challenge, the resort itself offers everything from a straight shave to Mexican food complete with a Mariachi Band. But the resort is just the beginning.
Prestigious tournaments like The Grand Slam of Golf and The Legends of Golf, have all been hosted in the city as well as the PGA Tour Qualifying School. There are currently 25 golf courses in La Quinta, designed by Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gregg Norman, and Lee Trevino just to name a few. The PGA West hosts the most unforgettable golfing experience in California.
The Food, The Shopping, The Entertainment
Al Fresco dining in La Quinta is the theme. Steak, seafood, pizza, we’ve got it. French, Italian, Mexican, it’s here. From Fast Food to Fine Dining, we will even accommodate your pets while you drink your coffee or have some pizza.
Shopping includes high-end retailers, discount shopping and small boutiques and shops. The movie theater boasts a wall to wall auditorium screen with THX Certified sound and the nearby Las Vegas-style casinos are a fun way to spend a little bit of your mad money.
Whether you want to relax by the pool, take a bike ride on one of the many trails, or take a hike in the mountains, La Quinta provides a variety of activities for all ages and inclinations. The music festivals, Coachella and Stagecoach are probably two of the best known events, but you can also enjoy the art galleries, art in public places, Old Town and the La Quinta Museum which hosts a fantastic local history Gallery as well as special exhibits.
Last, but certainly not least, the education of your children in La Quinta is a top priority. That’s why the school system has one of the best reviews from K – 12 in the state. High School sports and a wide variety of before and after school programs including Yoga, Tai Chi and Zumba all add to the mental and physical well being of the kids in the city. La Quinta is proud of its schools and its families.
Overall, La Quinta has even more to offer than what I’ve listed. The new surf resort from Kelly Slater Wave Co. is proposed to start building this year. La Quinta keeps growing and getting better and still maintains its charm.
