1. La Quinta Park

The 18-acre park has a playground and a splash pad that kids will enjoy, as well as a soccer field, basketball court, and skate park. Some areas of the park can be booked in case you want to host a birthday party or other private event.
2. La Quinta Museum
If you have older kids, you can take them to La Quinta Museum to see historical exhibits, artworks, and programs. Gallery 1 houses dioramas of a Cahuilla Indian village and native animals, while Gallery 2 features various changing exhibits. The museum is a great place for your kids to learn about local history and culture. On top of that, all events are free of charge.
3. The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens
For a different kind of educational trip that even little kids will enjoy, take your family to The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Desert. It is home to over 500 animals from over 150 species, as well as 50 immersive gardens. Aside from these, there are many other attractions to keep your kids busy. They can interact with goats at the Petting Kraal, play outdoors at the Gecko Gulch, or take a ride on the Endangered Species Carousel. There are also nature trails, a G-scale model train, and the interactive Discovery Center where guests can learn about the local environment.
4. Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
Take a ride on the world’s largest rotating tramcar at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. A 10-minute ascent will take the whole family to Mountain Station near the top of Mt. San Jacinto. Once there, you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the Coachella valley from observation decks or take a hike on one of the hiking trails that span over 50 miles in total. There are also two restaurants, a natural history museum, two documentary theaters, and a gift shop.
5. Boomers!
Be ready for a day of family entertainment at Boomers!, also in Park springs. It is filled with a variety of exciting attractions that you can enjoy individually or in groups. Ride Go-Karts or bumper boats, climb the 32-foot rock wall, take a swing at the batting cages or put away at one of the miniature golf courses. Gamers of all ages can find something to delight them in the state-of-the-art Boomers! game room.
6. Palm Springs Air Museum
Kids who love airplanes will enjoy a trip to the Palm Springs Air Museum. Cited by CNN Travel as one of the 14 best aviation museums in 2014, it features an impressive collection of aircraft from the World War II era, as well as related exhibits. Kids and adults alike can tour the interior of B-17 and C-47 aircraft or learn the principles of flight on computer flight simulators.
