Here are the most promising development projects in La Quinta, CA

As someone with deep personal knowledge of the La Quinta area, I – real estate agent Kathleen O’Keefe Galigher – understand how overwhelming it can be to choose the right development to invest in. The La Quinta real estate market is booming, and there are so many great communities to choose from. To make the hunt easier, I’ve listed some of the best developments for La Quinta vacation homes to invest in.

Talus La Quinta

Formerly known as SilverRock Resort, Talus La Quinta is an expansive 525-acre development situated at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains. Once completed, the Talus La Quinta will host two world-class hotels, exclusive residences, and upscale community amenities such as a 71,000-square-foot conference center, designated retail and recreational areas, and a golf clubhouse. Under developer The Robert Green Co., Talus La Quinta is currently in the first phase of development.

Residential/commercial project at Monroe & Avenue 60

The La Quinta Planning Commission recently approved a 110-acre residential and commercial project set to be built across Monroe St. from the luxury community of Andalusia. The long-delayed project under developer Barton Land La Quinta LLC, will feature 392 single-family homes on 61 acres, a commercial center on five-plus acres, and natural outdoor space on 17 acres. The approved project will also include a fire station, Imperial Irrigation District substation, and a 6-foot wall that will run the entire length of the project’s frontage on Monroe Street.

Travertine Project

Travertine is a 910-acre site to be built on the other side of the berm from Trilogy, a luxury community located in the Coral Mountain Golf Club. The proposed development by TRG Land would eventually house 1,200 dwelling units, including estate and luxury properties. The project will also include two 18-hole golf courses complete with golf training and practice facilities. Other amenities include a 100-villa resort and wellness spa, an open-air events facility, multiple private parks, hiking trails, and conserved outdoor space.

Thermal Beach Club

The town of Thermal is set to become a boomtown with the recent greenlighting of the Thermal Beach Club, a planned multi-generational private residential community by White Star Development. The centerpiece of the community is a 20-acre wave pool, which could quite possibly be the largest wave pool ever when it’s completed. Surrounding the wave pool will be six acres of white sand beach, along with 326 high-end homes. The community will also have a spa and fitness center, retail shops, restaurants, and multiple sports courts.

Affordable housing complex

The city of La Quinta is all set to purchase a five-acre lot located northeast of Highway 111 and Dune Palms Road. If the purchase pulls through, it will be the city’s second land acquisition meant for affordable housing. The city expects to pay $3.6 million for the land, and is currently shopping for a developer for the project.
